just wondering if it's common for a whirlpool estate dryer to rotate counter clockwise??

I have never noticed which way the drum rotates but I can tell you that it is correct.

This motor can only rotate in one direction.

For the belt tensioner/idler to work correctly the drum must spin in the correct direction.
