howdy all, my jenn air glass stovetop, about six years old, has a dual element on the front right side. it started intermitantly not heating/glowing but now does not heat at all, on either element. sounded like a bad switch to me because how could both elements possibly quit working at the same time. after troubleshooting the system the best i could i have found that there is good power going into the switch and good power coming out so it looks like a bad dual element. my question is, is there anything else that could cause this before i buy the second most expensive part on the whole stovetop? what is the 'limiter' and could it cause this and is it replaceable seperately? is there a fuse under the glass? also, on this websites parts section for this element, it list two dual elements, one i think is called a assembly. the p/n's are ap4008877 and the other is ap4097429. one is almost $100 the other is about $70, what is the difference? thanks in advance. jason.

Quote:is there anything else that could cause [the whole dual element to n/w at all] If the switch is sending power to it, just the element, its limiter or the wiring between the switch and it. Quote:what is the 'limiter' It is a safety protector on the elemnt. Quote:is it replaceable seperately? Not on your model, no. If it was defective the whole element would have to be replaced (which comes with a new limiter installed on it). Quote:is there a fuse under the glass There isn't usually, no. JFYI Dan O. www.Appliance411.com The Appliance Information Site=D~~~~~~
