This is a side by side. Freezer, icemaker are working well but refrigerator is at 50 degrees and there is condensation around jars and packages on the shelves. I cleaned coils underneath. No buildup of ice or frost in the freezer or the freezer coils. NO blockage of drains. Turned off the unit overnight and turned it on this morning and problem persists. Had a repair man out and he said maybe the compressor is going out but how could the freezer be working so well if that was so? I guess I am now wondering if the baffle between freezer and refrig is operated electrically and perhaps has decided to stop working--although from the looks of it, air would always pass through. Does anyone have any thoughts?

If you were getting a lot of condensation on the food in the fresh food section I would check to see if the door is sealing properly. Hope this helps! Refrigerator repair guide

Gaskets are very good--lots of suction when doors are opened. I know its not gaskets.

It is possible to have a seal system problem (compressor) and not be enough to affect the freezer enough to notice. However it is impossible for the freezer to be working 100% and the fresh food section not be working if you don’t have some sort of airflow problem.

Can you feel airflow through the damper between the fresh food section and freezer section? At times ice can form inside the damper check that.

Make sure both fans are working.

Yes, there is air flow between the two areas but not alot. I DID unplug and leave the refrig sit for a day to totally defrost the thing so I doubt if there is any ice in there. But here's a question: there is a wire running to the baffle from the controls on top of the refrigeration area--is it possible that it is not getting a signal to open the baffle? And while we're talking about it how does the refrigerator know to tell me when to change out the water filter. I ask only because the filter signal went on the other night just after the unit stopped working. Could this be a sensor problem?

As far as I can tell by looking at the parts breakdown your refrigerator doesn’t have an electric damper, it has a mechanical damper. Meaning that when you turn the control the damper opens and closes manually. The light that tells you to change the filter is normally just timed to come on every 6 months; I don’t think it has anything to do with your problem.

While the compressor is running remove the evaporator cover (the bottom back cover inside the freezer). Once removed you should see the evaporator coils, there should be a thin layer of frost covering the entire coils. If there is no frost or it only covers part of the coils you may have a seal system problem (possibly compressor).
