Hi -
The dryer won't start. The front panel indications appear fine. It seemed to finish its last load fine. After pressing start there's a sort of low hum and no action, no error codes. I took the lower panel off and found the very brief "dryer tech data sheet" for 84082/94082. In this it directs to turn the control knob to the "3 oclock position". What is this? Not to be too stupid about it but there are no indicators to show where any clock position might be. The knob is smooth.
I've seen other posts about a similar issue and the owner was able to find something impeding the movement of the drum. Mine appears to rotate ok, seems a little sluggish but doesn't seem to be totally impaired. There's a note in the user guide that says a thermal trip might have been invoked and to call service.
Any ideas? I could not find a service manual on line. I do have a multimeter and know how to use it.
Thanks, Keith

Hi Keith
Sorry you are having those problems. This is a Frigidaire Gallery Dryer made for Sears and marketed under the Sears Kenmore brand name. I do not have access to a service manual for it, but you can search the net for the Frigidaire Gallery Dryer Service manual and you may be able to find one.
The three o'clock position is how you start the self diagnosis. The timer pointer should be pointed toward 3 o'clock which I believe is "touch up" on your machine, at least it is on the Frigidaire. You start the diagnosis by
1. Hold the Select and Pause buttons for 6 sec 2. HOld the Start and Pause buttons for 4 sec 3. Move the knob to the "2 oclock" position.
This should get you an error code, which you can interpret from your check sheet.
Good luck, let us know what you find out.

Thanks.
I put the dial to "touch up", did the hold for 6 sec (where the digital display shows rES) then the hold for 4 sec then tried turning the dial clockwise and counterclockwise. Either way, the display goes to timers (e.g. 20, 15, 40, etc.) but no error codes.
I'll take a look around for the manual. I had taken the dryer apart and cleaned it out, manually rotated the drum and checked for obstructions (found none) and it seems to be working ok again.
Thanks again. Keith

Well, sorry you could not get it in test mode. These electronics are very sensitive and in my experience not very reliable, so it is not surprising you had some difficulty.
Anyway, glad you are up and running, let us know if you have any more problems.
Good luck, and thanks for updating us.
