SIDE X SIDE Fridge has started to freeze food (temp about 20%) Fan runs all the time blowing cold air in from freezer. If we flip the house circuit breaker the power interruption seems to cause it to work properly, fan blows only intermittently and temperature rises to normal. Adjusting the thermostat control has no effect on the fan.

Thoughts on Cause??

thnx for the help.

There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control which regulates the amount of cold air blowing in. Make sure it opens and closes when it’s adjusted. Look on your diagram for the parts involved with the damper and diffuser. Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL 4KSRT26DTA00 | AppliancePartsPros.com

Thnx woodchuckle. Apparently parts for the damper/airscoop are no longer available. Is that flapper/door controlled by a thermostat? Is there any way to fix a malfunctioniing damper short of a whole new part? As mentioned in my 1st post turning the power to the entire fridge off and back on seemed to get it working again for a while. The unit is on a remote island so proffessional repair is not an option. Dear Wife is sure getting tired of peeling those beersickles off the side of her fridge.

thnx,
bob

I could probably be persuaded to come to that remote vacation island. :D

Or your can put something to hold it open to the right position like older fridges worked. Give it about 8 hours to adjust the temp in between adjustments.

I assume the damper control is resetting when you reset the breaker and need to be replaced.

Woodchuckle, the island is a dangerous place surrounded by crazed salmon which try to devour every lure dropped in the water. Thanks so much for your suggestions hopefully they will work. Otherwise we'll be sharing those beersickles if you do stop by!!!
