I have a Whirlpool Refrigerator that is 3 years old with an Ice Maker and Water Dispenser. We moved it into storage a year ago and it was working fine. We moved it back into the new house and now, even though it is on the coldest setting for both the freezer and the regular side, both are warm on the top half and cold on the bottom. The ice maker is not working at all for some reason either, but the water dispenser seems to be functioning. Any ideas? Not sure where to begin on this. All appears well, and both the freezer and fridge are cold on the bottom areas but feel like room temperature on top. Not sure if the Ice Maker not functioning is related or not. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Here are your parts Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL ED5VHEXTQ01 REFRIGERATOR | AppliancePartsPros.comIs the evaporator/freezer fan (Item 7 in Section 10) running? It is required to circulate the air in the freezer and the fresh food sections. If it is not running, check the power to the fan. It should be 120 volts. If you have power to it and it is not running it is toast and needs replacing. Is the vent (Item 4 in Section 2) between the sections clear of food etc. in both compartments. It must be for there to be proper air circulation. If the above are OK. Check that the compressor is running. You can usually hear it and it should be warm and you should be able to feel it vibrating. If it is running all the time. Check that it's fan is running. Check that the condenser coils are clean . Remove the cover from inside the freezer so you can inspect the evaporator coils. If they are heavily iced/frosted over to the point where the fan cannot pull air through them then you have a defrost problem. If there is no frost or just frost in one area then you have a sealed system problem. Note that this test must be done after the compressor has run for a couple hours. If you do it shortly after a defrost cycle then there will be no frost and you will arrive at the wrong conclusion. If the unit was tipped/tilted when moved did you leave it for at least 24 hours before plugging it in? If not do that now. |
