A Model Number may help others help you.
Go to the GE Appliances website and you may be able to download a manual.
Check the water valve with a meter to see if it is getting power when it should (120 volts) If OK, then it could be: 1. No water is getting to the valve for some reason (unlikely but sometimes a shut off gets turned off by mistake) 2. The valve is shot. Replace the valve. 3. The filter screen on the input side of the valve is clogged up. If it is this remove the valve and clean the screen. Do not remove it, it is there to prevent crud from entering the valve, holding it open and causing a flood. Also a good idea to drain some water out of your hot water tank, let it run till it is clear.
If no voltage First place to check is the overfill switch/float. Make sure the switch is activated and the float is not being held in the up position. Next would be to check the switch itself to ensure the contacts are closed. |
