I am working on a Maytag Washing Machine that makes a loud roaring sound when it goes into the spin cycle-so loud you don't want to be in the same room with it.
I have removed the wash tub and the plastic nut on the spin cycle shaft but below the nut is a 4 bolt flange that I need to remove. It is aluminum and I have been to the web site and the on line help but can not tell if it is threaded or or if I need to use a puller on it.
Thanks J

Hi Gene-thanks for the link to the repair manual--that is just the bit of info I needed. J

As it turns out-the spin hub is threaded and the hub may require a bit of coaxing with a rubber mallet and a large wrench. I also had to clamp the agitator shaft to keep it from turning while I rapped on the hub wrench.
Once I had it unscrewed and the tub removed I found that the hub seal had deteriorated and water had rusted the spin bearing--lots of noise. A new part from this site and all fixed. Thanks for the help Gene.

You are welcome. I'm glad you were able to fix it.
Gene.
