I have an older electric dryer that has developed a starting problem. Lately when I push the start button, it spins the motor, but doesn't catch and keep moving. If I hold down the button for more than about a ten count, the motor stops spinning entirely. If I wait a couple minutes and try again once or twice, the motor usually starts running on it's own, but lately I've been having trouble with that working. Is it the motor?

Dave, Sure sounds like an older, weak motor, and belt. If you can get access to a multimeter, Check for a minimum of 105 VAC on the L1 leg at the terminal block, when you press the start button. If the voltage stays above 105 VAC you'll need a motor and belt. Thanks, :) :) :)
