I replaced the damper control box because the damper would not open and the fridge stayed warm. Now the freezer is 0 degrees but the refrigerator is below 30 degrees. The refrigerator seems to run continually and the damper doesn't seem to close no matter how cold the fridge is, therefore allowing cold air to continuously be pumped into the fridge. I have tried to turn the fresh food control knob down (warmer) but this doesn't help.

Control box kit was replaced Part Details - FRIGIDAIRE Control Box Kit, part number: AP5176342 damper remains open until defrost cycle, no matter how cold the fridge is. When defrost cycle is complete, condenser starts, freezer fan starts, damper opens and closes numerous times before it decides to stay open. damper remains open again until next defrost cycle continuing to pump cold air into fridge. Cannot get fridge above 30 degrees.

The link you gave for the service manual shows an error page. I registered but cannot find the service manual you are referring to.

Yes I just tried the link and the same thing happened. But when I signed in and then went to it I was able to download it. Must be something weird with the site. It is "Frigidaire Refrigerator SxS 2001 Next Gen Service Manual # 5995352423" on Page 3 of the "Refrigerator Repair Service Manuals" in the Downloads section. Just had another person with damper problems following is what they found. http://forum.appliancepartspros...ced-control-box-kit.htmlI am going to the cottage for a few days so will not be available. When the forum is busy if other regular posters see that the post is being answered they do not have the time to check the post. So If you require help when I am gone you may want to start a new post with a blurb about what you have done so far and a link to your original post. |
