I have no volt/ohm meter...How can I trigger my defrost cycle so I can see if my new defrost heater is working? It's been 24 hours, an even has frost formed on the coils, but no sign that the new heater has done anything. I've since read that replacing these Thermostat def Part Number: AP3884317 made by GE 241 Sensor temp ff Part Number: AP3185407 made by GE is recommended at the same time you replace, should I go ahead and do that too? I hate to put it back together only to find it hasn't been fixed.

On this model I would say that it is the heater 99% of the time and it can be up to 48 hours between defrost cycles depending on the amount of door openings. Work on these all the time and haven’t seen many sensors bad. Don’t get me wrong I am not by any means saying that something else can't cause your problem just that its more than likely fixed.
