My dryer always worked great...now today....I push the button in to start, and it doesn't stay on...so I thought I would duct tape the button down, thinking it was just the button, well it stays on with the duct tape, but it doesn't get hot and dry the clothes. I don't have the money to buy a new dryer...looking at it you wouldn't think it was 10 years old, but that is was sears says...can you tell how old a dryer is by the Model Number. Please help me because I am hoping my husband can get a part and fix it. thanks so much

Here are your parts

See the attachment for the tech sheet.

Could be that the even heat control board is shot.

The motor is kept running and the heat is switched in by 2 relays.
The relay coils are 48 volt DC.
So it sounds like the 48 volt DC power supply on the even heat control board is shot.
Check the board for any sign of overheating or a blown component or a bad connection.
Note: Always check parts with the unit unplugged 240 volts is lethal.
The only exception is when you must have the unit powered up to do a live test.
Try the diagnostics to see if anything abnormal pops up.
The two relays are the same so check their coils. I am not sure what they should read for resistance but they should be the same. The reason for doing this is to ensure that one of them is not bad and that is whaat blew the 498 volt supply.

Unless you have some electrical experience the following is best left to a pro.
Check that the board puts out the 48 volts DC.
