Our oven is not heating correctly, and hasn't been for awhile. It's become more obvious lately so we finally bought a thermometer to hang off the oven rack.
For example: oven temp set at 450, preheat will beep and turn off when thermometer reads 315. It sometimes will heat a bit further but never reaches the set point.
We replaced the sensor about 6 weeks ago (it was a $20 part so we figured why not), but it did not help.
I did go into the controls and calibrate the oven up, by as much as 20 points initially. Eventually we set the calibration up the full 35 points.
It does seem to be getting worse. :(
I can tell you both elements work, so can I assume it's the controller? My understanding would be that an element would either work or not work, seeing how it's resistive.
I can change the controller myself, as I am quite technically adept, but have no idea how to troubleshoot it if that were possible. Besides, $150 bucks is cheaper than a new oven :)
That being said, we've never been happy with the cooktop elements. They take FOREVER to boil water and heat anything larger than a medium pot.
