There is a grinding or rubbing noise in the machine while running with a load. Makes no noise with no load. Also the machine will stop part way through the cycle. I push the start button and the wash resumes. If the bearings on the drum are bad will it cause the motor to stop.

The bearings are the likely problem on this model, but they should not stop the motor from running.
This is a very troubled machine, very, very troubled. My advice is almost always replace it, the fixes are not worth it.
