my name is melody and i bought this dryer and i had to change the plug on it and on the back of the dryer there is only two spots the thrird is missing they had black wire striped and twisted with another black wire but when i took the other plug off it took the one black wire off so i need yto know if the black wire on the back of the dryer is a HOT wire to connect it to the new plug please help me.. thank you so much. melody stotz

Why did you have to replace the plug?
What are you changing it to?
Only 2 spots, is this on the terminal block?

By stiped do you mean stripped?
Sorry do not understand your description about the black wires.
On a 3 wire hookup Black (L2) and Red (L1) are hot, Green is Neutral.
A 4 wire hookup is different in that the Neutral is not attached to the dryer's frame. The ground is attached to the frame. The green is attached to the machine's Neutral and the ground strap in the unit must be removed/disconnected.

i had to change it because it didnt fit the wall plug but you answered what i needed the black is the one i need to connect to the hot wire on te new plug thank you so much
