The machine worked fine until we put the fabric softener dispenser from the clothes washer in to clean the old junk from the fabric softener dispenser . Ever since , the dishwasher will not fill with water . If I load the machine with water , using buckets ! , it works , tho requires reloasding water for each cycle . SOOO , that means the pump works . And it goes thru cycles as supposed to . And drains like normal . Did the fabric softener somehow cook the main control board ? I am baffled as to how this could happen . To repeat -the control buttons respond , it just won't load the necessay water but will work if I dump it in from buckets .( the overflow float seems ok ) Many thanks

Ever since , the dishwasher will not fill with water. It could have been just a coincidence.

( the overflow float seems ok ) Did you check this by removing the kick plate and checking that the overfill switch is activated (Float down)? If not I would do that.
Check the float on the overfill assembly. Sometimes it can get stuck in the up position. If it is then usually cleaning it will fix the problem.
If the overfill switch is being activated, check for 120 volts across the fill valve when it should be on.
If there is no voltage, check across the fill valve/overfill switch (they are wired in series). If there is no voltage there, then the control board is probably toast. If there is voltage, then check across the overfill switch. If there is voltage across the switch then the switch is shot.
If there is 120 volts across the fill valve then either the fill valve needs replacing or it's filter needs cleaning. There is a screen filter built into the input side of the valve. Remove the valve from the unit and check/clean the screen filter. Do not permanently remove the screen filter from the valve as it is there to keep crud out of the valve which could hold it open and cause a flood. |
