hi there. I have a frigidaire ultraquiet iii and the water NEVER gets hot and the dishes always have soap or something left on them...some white film. I was wondering if the heating element may need to be replaced. Our water temp is set to 120 degrees. We also have hard water but I always use Lemishine with every wash and that keeps the heating element clean.

That's my only guess. My questions: is it possible that it is only heating element? Can that be replaced and is it too expensive? Should I just get a new dishwasher?

Misschief,

Yes, the heating element can be replaced, and is available by itself,

Part number: AP4424048
Part number: AP4424048

But there are other components and wires involved in the heater circuit ( thermostats, control switches , etc.)

You should check and make sure, the hot water temperature in the tub is 120 dgrs F. on the first fill of a wash cycle. If the temperature is not, the heat circuit cannot compensate enough and the water won't heat up to the desired/target temperature (usually 140 dgrs F.), and that can be the cause of most of the issues you mentioned.

Good Luck,
:) :) :)
