When the button is pushed to turn on the dryer, the button clicks but the motor does not spin.

I have checked the switch for the door and it does kick out the button when the door is opened so the door switch seems to be OK.

I do have an ohm meter but not exactly sure how to use it nor what my next thing would be to check.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Here are your parts

I a assuming that the motor does not make any noise.

The most common cause would be the thermal fuse is blown (Item 7 in Section 3). It is in the motor circuit.

Unplug the unit and check the fuse with a meter should be 0 ohms.
If it is blown be sure to clean/check your vent system and blower wheel as they are the most common cause of this fuse blowing.
Replace it ASAP as it is a critical safety device which prevents lint fires which can turn into house fires.

Here is some info on meter usage.
A couple things to watch when measuring ohms and continuity
1. Always remove power from the machine otherwise you could blow your meter.
2. Always disconnect at least one side of any device you are checking. This eliminates the possibility of measuring an alternate/parallel circuit path.
3. When checking for closed contacts and continuity use the lowest scale (Usually 200 ohms). Then try higher scales. This scale is 0 to 200 ohms so if the device you are measuring is 300 ohms this scale would show an open circuit which it is not, you are just measuring outside the scale's dynamic range.
4. When you start always short the meter leads together. This will tell you that the meter is working and if there is any 0 offset.

There is a good STICKY at the start of this forum about it's use.
