Recently, our GE Washer will not drain all the water. There is still about 1.5 in of water left after the wash cycle is completed.

Model GLD4100L00WW.

I read some of the older posting but I have not the chance to clean the drain line yet but will do so shortly.

I checked the vane rotated both directions without any problems. What I like to know if it is common for these pump to fail. To me, they should last 10 yrs easily and it is only 4 yrs old. We do not use this dishwasher but maybe once a week.

thanks for any help

Check the flapper valve attached to the drain pump and another flopper valve (#328 on the diagram).

The purpose is to prevent the water from the drain line from coming back into the dishwasher.

Hello. I just want to know how I know if I can just replace the flapper valve or if I need to replace the whole drain pump. I unhooked my DW from the drain tube and it was not clogged. There does not appear to be a flapper valve where it should be so I am inclined to just order that but don't want to have to wait even longer for the drain pump if it is not corrected by the flapper valve. Thank you. Kelly

Gene, The model number is gld6300l15bb. I hooked the dishwasher back up today and ran it and cancelled it. When the water drained some does drain into the garbage disposal so I think it would be the flapper valve. It is my understanding that if the water is pumping out the pump is not the problem. I ordered the part since it is only around $8 and I will probably be able to pick it up tomorrow. I guess I will find out tomorrow. The only problem now it that the copper wire that carries water into the DW is now leaking a little from being jostled around. I tightened it and hopefully it won't leak again. Do you think the flapper valve was the right choice? Kelly

Kelly,

There are 2 flapper valves. One is a part of the drain pump (the red piece on the following picture). GE does not sell it separate and if it's bad or missing, you have to order the whole pump. The second is shown as #328 on the diagram. APP sell it for less than $5.
