Have a 16 yr. old Amana LW8203W2 washer that started leaking towards rear of machine. After running it with top removed for visibility, it appears that water pools up in the little channels on the rear of the plastic tub cover and during agitation they overflow and water runs down exterior on tub rear. Have had seal off and back on again - pretty sure nothing is leaking past it How are those channels supposed to work?

About the only way we can diagnose a leak is to operate the machine with the front off and see where the leak is coming from. It will either be the center seal or the hose. In rare occasions with a machine as hold as yours it can be a cracked tub, so check that too.
