The top plastic piece of the agitator is not engaged. It has "double roll over dual action PLUS" written on top. Below the round top with the writing the piece spirals down where it fits over the top of the main agitator, which is engaged and works.
The top plastic piece of the agitator that fits over the bottom piece is loose and moves freely by hand in both directions . Is this proper operation or does it need to be repaired. K.

Sounds like the agitator cams, called "dogs" are bad, a simple, easy and inexpensive repair, and there is a video to show you how.

I popped the top on the agitator and looked inside. I think that you are right. The ends are all worn out. I looked at the video and ordered the parts. Thanks for link and information.
