I have an Amana bottom freezer and neither the freezer or the refrigerator are cooling. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Thanks

If all the fans are running, check the compressor start device behind the compressor side cover. If it rattles when shaken, it's bad, order it here AP4079373

Thank you. I did check the start device and it did not rattle. Just to be on the safe side I did replace it and it didn't help. I also thought it might have been the defrost timer but that's not it either. Any other idea's?

Thank you

Check to see if the compressor is running, it will vibrate and the condenser coils will be warm. If the compressor is running and it's hot, it has sucked in non-compresables due to a refrigerant leak. If warm and running, you probably have a worn compressor.

Thank you. I was afraid it might be the compressor. It does run and vibrate and gets a little warm. Since my last post I did check the continuity of the compressor and got some high readings. I'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to this stuff but my understanding is I should be getting a 0 reading. Is this correct?

Thank you

Only an amprobe check and low side pressure check will determine status of compressor. You might want to get a pro to look at it, but repair is way too costly.

Thank you for all of your help. It looks like it's time to take a trip to the appliance store.
