I was getting the "F2" error on my whirlpool oven when trying to bake. The resistance on the temp sensor matched the expected OHMS as stated on these forums so I replaced the control panel.

I replaced it with the following part.
AP4321499 (W10108320) CNTRL-ELEC 1 $74.54

After replacing it I got the F2 error again, pulled it back away from the wall, entered the diagnostics, saw that current temp was accurate, cleared the error, and tried again.

After several attempts with the oven up against the wall and more with it pulled out away from the wall we realized that it would only work when pulled away from the wall and would always give the F2 error when pushed up against it.

I have a 4 and a 10 year old so using the oven with it pulled out into the kitchen is not an acceptable solution. Any ideas on what could be causing the problem? It doesn't seem like there's much else in there, a temp sensor, a light, and some igniter wires. I can't think of anything else to replace.

Hey David I have whirlpool model SF114PXSQ1 and I am having the same issue as you! I have replaced the temperature sensor and the computer and I still get the F2 code. While the oven is pulled away from the wall I noticed there is not much insulation between the ERC and the oven. My ERC is blistering hot on the bottom even with the back panel off and I can see white discoloration on the bottom where the plastic has heated up. I am going to try going to Home depot to get some more insulation to stick between the oven and ERC box to see if that fixes the issue. I'll let you guys know if it worked or not and try to get some pictures.

This is just another thing you can watch out for if you receive an Error after replacing the control panel. I live in Costa Rica and have an open lot next to my home so from time to time we have mice infestations. They got into the insulation around the oven and urinated in the insulation.

When I turned the stove on the stench was unbelieveable.. and the control panel gave the F2 error. We replaced all the insulation, cleaned everything, replaced the control panel and the temperature sensor and everything looked fine but the oven wouldn't shut off. During the night the F2 error started again and was beeping. We had the stove out from the wall so that wasn't the problem.

After checking everything out again, we noticed that there was an almost invisible amount of mouse urine on the control panel. SO, it was washed clean with soap and water and left in the sun to dry. The housing of the control panel was also recleaned. When hooked up again, the F2 error was gone and both the old and new temp sensors are now working. Now all we have to figure out is how to keep mice out of the house.... almost impossible here.
