I had the inner door panel off while I was diagnosing a leak problem. I temporarily replaced the panel and installed only four of the many screws holding it in place (a huge mistake) .

The dishwasher door was closed, when trying to open the door the handle popped out of position and I can no longer open the door.

The handle can move around a little so I can see a little bit of the actuator mechanism and can get a small screw driver in there.

Does anyone know how to open this door without using a crowbar or 10 lb hammer?

Is there an emergency release or some part of the actuator mechanism that can be pushed, pressed or pulled to release the door?

Any help would be greatly appreciated......I can't wait to get back the leak problem. ;)

I lucked out; just happened to have the handle in the correct position and gave a gentle tug on the door and it opened. Handle was broken. For future reference the door can be opened by pushing on either side of the verticle cente tab in the door opening and pulling on the door; this releases the actuator mechanism and allows the door to open.
Replacing the handle will correct the problem.
