I was getting a F5 code on oven, checked online and purchased an ERC locally. Installed it and was still receiving F5 code. Did some more reading and checked the temp sensor with multimeter and got a reading of 1089. HELLLLLP :(
Thank you, Dan

F5 does mean to replace the ERC. I was wondering if you recieved a bad one. Check your connections, and if you get the code again, I would take it back and get another. When you do take it back, be sure you bring your model and serial # with you, because they will need that info, so they can get there money back. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Thanks for the quick reply. I took the part back to the shop and it looks like a week before the new one arrives. I will report in about a week if the new one works or not. Thanks again, Dan

Here are your parts Replacement parts for JENN-AIR W30400BC | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is a service manual http://www.servicematters.com/m...ibrary/docs/16010312.pdfF5 seems to show up as a bad connection on or input/output wires to the Relay Board. I would check the plugs/receptacles going to the board. Also make sure the wires on the plugs are properly crimped. Make sure the pins are clean and not discolored. Also check the relay board for a bad solder joint. Often it will be a dull silver color OR may have pin holes OR sometimes slightly wiggling the components on the top side, you will see the component's leg move on the under side |

Dano, the appliance code flat out says to replace erc board. That is what you did. It sounded pretty cut and dry by the fault code library. You don't normally get bad boards. Do this, unplug the ribbon coming from the tochpad assembly, and then kick the power back on, and see if you get the same code. If so, the touchpad assembly is bad also. It does happen from time to time. The part # on it is 71002300. I don't think that the sensor is bad. You got a 1089 reading on it. If you unplug the ribbon, and you get a different code. Put it back together, and then unplug the sensor, and see if you get the same code. Let me know, I will check my e-mail later on today. Tom

kayakcrzy and denman,
I've tried all suggestions. Unplugging the ribbon turns on the top fan and turns the oven light on, plugging it in reverses those two. I pulled the relay board, pulling minimal wires, from the right side wall and checked for loose or discoloured areas, nothing. I pulled the covers off of 3 relays and discovered 2 of those relays very dirty/dusty and the 3rd perfectly clean. The relays look like points in an old style car distributor. I'm going to clean them up and see where that gets me.
Any comments appreciated.
Thanks again, Dano

Well cleaning the relays got me no where. I may just try and replace them.
I found some papers on the back of the oven. A wiring diagram and an explanation of fault codes.
F5 - Power to element relays disabled in cook mode.
Check - Intermittent sensor or wire harness connection. - Intermittent contact on PRB.
All other sources on the net say it's the ERC, anyone looking for a cheap ERC. Looks like I may not need this one.
Truly frustrated, Dano
