I reviewed the forum and purchased both gas coils and high limit t-stat, but still have same problem with Maytag LDG8506AAE. Dryer starts, tumbles, ignites flame, and flames stays lit for about 2 minutes then goes out, tumbler stays turning, just have no heat. I have cleaned the lint screen and vent. Even tried to run dryer with vent disconnected and flame still went out after a minute or two. Please provide next steps for troubleshooting and repair. Thanks much.

Colorado, Are you sure you have a constant and proper gas supply to the dryer ? If the igniter continues to cycle on and off, but no flame, your igniter and flame switch are OK, (you could remove the igniter and check for a crack(white spot on the black area of the igniter) But if everything goes dead, at this point we're looking for a loose wire to the, gas valve and coil assembly. (you did remember to put the s/s sleeve back in over the plunger on the gas valve). :) :) :)

After replacing the coils and high temp t-stat, I was testing the dryer empty. So I decided to wash clothes and fill dryer with wet items. Now I get flame staying lit. Been about 7 minutes so far. I am going to let it run and monitor the 'regular auto dry' dial to ensure it moves. I'll let all know how it works out. (Side note: when troubleshooting I busted the door switch so friendly tip for others is when removing the front panel, disconnect the two door wires from spade lugs instead of leaving them attached..)

30 minutes later and dry clothes. Flame stayed on for about 20 minutes then went off. Back On about 3 minutes later, so assume normal temp cycle in process. Dial moved as normal. Think its good to go. Good webiste for info. Thanks for the fast shipping on the initial coils and t-stat. Have a great weekend.

Just wanted to update all the drer works great after replacing two coils and hight temp stat. Initial testing after parts replaced, was done with dryer empty so I thought I still had a problem. But as of today have completed about 6 'wet' loads and all works great. Keep this site since it helps to read thru forums/threads for troubleshooting

Hi- I just wanted to share my experience in case others come to this thread looking or info as I did.
I have a Maytag LDG412 and had the same issue- flame coming on then going out after a matter of seconds.
I replaced the coils (mine were the old style, the kind you splice in), and after installing the same issue occurred. I didnt test any other components, instead I threw in a load of wet clothes like Colorado did on this thread- and the dryer is working! Normal heating on all cycles and going strong several loads later.
Thanks everyone for sharing their experiences, a couple years later this is still useful information.
