I have a Maytag dryer (MDE7400AYW) in which the timer will not advance in any cycle (auto or timed dry). I have just recently replaced the timer after the dryer would not start. (Previously you would need to pull up and out while “jiggling” the dial to start the dryer until which time the dryer failed to start altogether.) The dryer now starts and runs but the timer fails to advance in the auto or timed dry cycle. As information the dryer heats and will stop if the door is opened or if the dial is manually turned through the cycle to the off position. The serial number for the dryer is 19727266CJ and the replaced timer part number is WPL33002803 (there were two timers listed for the dryer model - I confirmed the part number with Appliance Parts Pros). Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It is most likely your sensor bar. If you open the door of the dryer, and stick your head in, and look down to the right, you will see it. Before you replace it, get some finger nail polish, and put it on a cotton ball, and clean it good. Sometimes there is a build up of fabric softner on it, and it won't sence. Tom

Thanks for the advise. I will try that but would the sensor bar also effect the timer not advancing when the dryer is in timed mode (i.e. 10 minute or 20 minute scheduled drying time)?
