I have a GE washing maching model # WWSE5240G1WW that will not spin or agitate. I don't think the motor is running at all. All I can hear is the pump. The tub will fill and then drain. I have tried -reseting the machine by unplugging and then plugging and opening the lid several times. -installing a new lid switch
Nothing has worked. - The LED light located on top of the motor will blink 6 times and then go off for 6 seconds.
Please let me know what else I could do before calling a repairman.

I assume you tried to clear the codes in this manner
To clear the error code, turn the washer off. Then disconnect power for about 20 seconds. Next, reconnect power then open and close the lid five or more times within 12 seconds in the first 30 seconds of power-up.
and if not, try again.
If it still flashes 6, here is the explanation.
6 flashes – This means that the motor cannot turn. Clear the code and if the problem still exists follow these instructions. To check, this first remove the belt and attempt to turn the big pulley. If it turns freely both ways replace the motor. If the big pulley, is stuck the shifter needs to be replaced.
