I live in an apartment and my dryer that is probably 6 months old is not drying efficiently. The landlord had someone come out and clean out the air vent from the outside, in. But it still does not heat up inside the dryer like it should. It took a load of towels 4 hours to dry. On the top of the dryer if you are facing it, you put your hand on the left hand upper corner and it is so hot you cannot touch it, but otherwise the rest is just a little warm. The back looks like metal or aluminum and that is extremely hot. So help if possible...

Disconnect the unit from the vent system and run a load.
If worried about lint in the apartment; take a pair of pantyhose, put one leg into the other and attach this to the dryer's exhaust. Leave enough room behind the dryer so it can blow out like a windsock.
Check the exhaust air volume and temperature. If it dries in one run then you have a vent problem. |
