My dryer was working fine, then I put a load in to dry. Selected the normal dry then pressed start. I heard something pop and then I could smell electrical wires. I once again seclected the normal button (everything lit up like normal) then pressed start, but nothing happens. The smell seemed like it is coming from the console. Any idea what might be wrong with it. Thanks in advance for your help.

I think a part inside the console shorted out. If you open it up you should see a black mark on some component.
