I'm changing the berrings in the transmission. I have it down to the next thing I need to do is take off the clutch. Has 200lbs of pressure, how would you do it? Whats the trick?

You're probably refering to the brake assembly. From the bottom of the machine, after you have removed the thrust bearing, you'll notice there are six screws around the circumference of the brake stator. They are 8-32 threaded. If you remove three of them (every other one), and replace them with longer screws of the same thread, you can slowly back them out to release the spring's pressure after removing the short screws.

This will take some time, but will save you about a hundred dollars on the purchase of a brake tool.

Jamin,

Without a removal tool,

The basic process is:

Remove one of the screws, from the brake stator,
Take it to the local hardware store and purchase 2 screws(same thread size and pitch) only, 2 to 3 inches long.
Install the 2 longer screws across from each other on the stator, hand tight.
Remove all the other mounting screws, then slowly and evenly remove the 2 longer screws, until the brake rotor spring tension is released.

After the repair, reverse the procedure to install the stator.

Good Luck,
:) :) :)

Jamin,

So you were able to finish the repair ?

Glad, the 2 screw trick, worked for you, it's a lot cheaper than a brake removal tool( that trick has been around for ages,as well ).

Good Luck,
:) :) :)
