Our Kenmore Dryer is not fully drying cloths. I held down latch and turned dryer on. It got hot for about 2 minutes then quit heating, it then started heating again but only lasted about 2 minutes again before it quit heating again. Which sensor do I need to replace, and where is it located?

Thanks,
JTY

If I understand your post you were checking it by running with the door open. The unit will not operate correctly as there is no air flow over the heating coils so you will run off the high limit thermostat and also may blow the thermal cut-off.

I would check/clean your vent system first.

Unplug the unit and disconnect it from the vent system.
Now try a run.
If it now dries OK odds are the vent system needs checking/cleaning.
Be sure to check that the louvers on the outside of the house open correctly.

If you do not want any lint in the house.
Take a pair of pantyhose.
Put one leg into the other and then attach this to the dryer's vent.
Leave enough room so the pantyhose can balloon out like a windsock.

Both the above will let you check the temperature and the air flow.

Note: The above is not recommended for gas dryers due to carbon monoxide concerns.

Thanks for the quick reply. The vent system is clear. With the back off I run the dryer and watch the heating elements. They come on and then cycle off after approx 2 minutes. The dryer doesn't stay hot enough to dry the clothes.
Thanks,
JTY

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for KENMORE 11064642400 | AppliancePartsPros.com

See the attachment for your wiring diagram

Looking at the parts when the unit is on high heat the thermostt turns the heat of at 155 degrees F and then comes back on at 130 degrees F.
You could check this with a thermometer.

Also when the unit was disconnected from the vent did you have good air flow?

You are welcome

And thanks for getting back to us. Now when others search for a similar problem they will see what actually worked instead of just suggestions about what could be the cause.
