Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 5/19/2008(UTC) Posts: 6		I am replacing the heating element in my Kenmore Electric dryer. Since I have to wait for the element to arrive, I decided to clean out the lint chute & vent pipes since it looks like they have a fair amount of lint build up. The prolem is I can't get the lint chute out. I removed the four screws and the chute will move freely but it won't come out of the bottom or the top. I have not tried any excess force for fear of breaking something. How does it come out ? Also, there is a small heating resistor on the t-stat on the blower housing. The resistor is open. What does this do and is it necessary? Should I replace it? Thanks for the help. Joe

Then, with some side to side wiggling, the chute should come out from the back. It is sometimes necessary to tilt the machine a little toward the front to make clearance for the chute to come all the way out.

I will use a little more elbow grease this time. Maybe I wasn't pulling hard enough. Anybody know anything about the heater resistor?
