I push the dishwasher door closed and it does not latch at all, meaning I can pull it open without any resistance and do not have to push the door handle button up.

Also, I don't think this is the problem at all, but the door handle is easily moved up and down and does not appear to have a spring on it (if it's even supposed to in the first place).

I opened up the control panel and looked at the mechanism. I tested out the switch by pushing the button for the switch all the way down, heard it click, and then started up the dishwasher for a moment (while the door was open). The dishwasher started up so the switch is working fine. Problem is I can neither close the door securely nor get the switch button to be fully pressed down when the door is closed.

Is there a problem with the latch...or the strike plate on the tub...or a switch actuator(I have no clue what that is, by the way). Please tell me what part(s) I need to buy from your site to get this working. Thanks so much for your assistance.

I included some pictures. Not sure if they will be of any assistance, but hopefully they help you to diagnose the problem.

After doing some more investigating and looking over the diagrams for my model, I found out I was missing part #8269111 (Strike).

I ordered the part, took less than a second to install it, and now the door closes securely and the dishwasher works fine.

Even though no one on this forum helped me really, I would still like to thank the moderators for making this resource available and I'm sure that if I hadn't solved my own problem, someone here would have let me know what part I was missing. Thanks.
