After the bake temp. buton is pressed and a bake temp set, the setting just blanks out and the oven refuses to light up. If all the stove burners are lit up, and after a few more attempts to get the oven going, does it finally light up and works normally after.

Most likely the problem is a bad control board (aka clock). In order to provide the correct part number I need the serial number of the range. Here are the break down diagrams for the Admiral range Model 686AJ-TKSVWGene.
