Here are your parts Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL ED5VHGXML13 REFRIGERATOR | AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment for the tech sheet Put the unit back to the way it was and try to force a defrost cycle. The compressor and fans will shut off when in defrost. If it does not heat up then unplug the unit. Measure the defrost heater, should be approximately 20 ohms. Measure the defrost thermostat, should be 0 ohms when frozen If both are OK odds are the defrost board is toast. If it does heat up then the defrost board is toast. Be careful that you do not burn your fingers. |

Ok I took it apart, defrosted it and tested things. The heater coil is 23 ohms the defrost bimetallic was open cold and I've shorted the wires temporarily.
Can't force it to go into defrost mode. Have put it back together with voltmeter leads connected to heater coil, if and when it starts clicking again, I'm going to check the volt meter. Think I need a ADC and a defrost bimetallic. How come your prices are the highest on the web for parts? Other sites have these parts for $25 less, do you price match?

I cannot really say as I do not work for ApplianceartsPros, you would have to contact their parts people.
I can tell you that this is the first time I can remember anyone saying the parts are too expensive.
Could be the parts you are looking at are third party parts and not made by Whirlpool but I am just guessing. |
