My dishwasher has push button controls, all of which still work except for the Off/On button. It simply will not engage. Do I need to replace the whole control panel, or just the one button that does not work? Is it easier for a novice repair person perosn to replace the panel or open up the existing one and replace the button? Help!

The "on-off" switch is a part of the selector switch (push-button switch). Unfortunately this part is no longer available. Probably it's time for a new dishwasher. Here are the break down diagrams for the Bosch dishwasher Model SMU4092 UC/14 (FD -7902)Gene.

If the individual part is not available, can the whole control panel be replaced? even at 140.00 that's cheaper than a new dishwasher. Thanks for your time.

Which part did you call "control panel"?
Gene.

Thanks for your time. I thought I had the same problem with the power switch. It did not seem to engage. I would have ordered a new one if it had been available. I took the old switch out and discovered it was working fine. The power switch (double pole) opens and closes both the hot and the common connection. What I discovered was that the black wire between the junction box located below the door in the front of the dishwasher and the power switch was broken. It is a solid copper wire and flexes each time the door is opened. I replaced the wire and the switch and the dishwasher now works fine. Give it a try and good luck! I guess I will have to keep using my old dishwasher! Steve

Thanks Steve. I had the same problem and followed your advice. It worked and saved me $$ from buying a new one! Joan

This sounds exactly like the problem I am having. How difficult is it to do yourself? I am not sure how to remove the switch (does it need to be the entire control panel) and whether I need a particular wire. Can you provide any more information?
