dryer wont start but i can hear the timer and the light works

The first thing I would do is remove the rear panel and check the thermal fuse (#7 on the break down diagram) for continuity. Replace the fuse if it's open. It is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the cycling thermostat (#8 on the break down diagram) in case if the thermal fuse is blown. Check the exhaust line (inside and outside the dryer) for a clog. - The part number for the thermal fuse is AP3132867 - The part number for the cycling thermostat is AP3131939 Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dryer Model LER8857EQ0Gene.
