Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 1/23/2011(UTC) Posts: 1		Our GE Profile DW has developed a crusty white build up on the inner door gasket seal, the door hinges and on the heating element. Have already done a couple "cookware" cycles with white vinegar with no noticeable difference. Would citric acid be better or can the parts be cleaned by hand? If hand cleaned what should be used to avoid damaging the gasket seal and element? BTW, great forum!

You need to remember: You need very hot water(120 dgrs min.) If your using the machine wash system, after the water (120 dgrs) is in the tub, and the citric acid, let the wash cycle run 10 to 15 Minutes, then stop the dishwasher and allow the chemical solution to soak, 20 to 30 minutes. Then resume the cycle or run a short cycle to rinse out the tub and components. As for hand cleaning, you can use a "Scotch Brite" pad, just be careful around the door seal, you can't really hurt the heater element(usually). Just remember the "hot" water and allow things to soak a while. :) :) :)
