The compressor and fan are both running but neither freezer or refer are cooling. The compressor is hot to the touch. I was wondering if the thermostat inside the fridge could be bad or as i was told by a tech that it couldnt be because the compressor is running that is must be a clog in the compressor and needs a new one.

It sounds like you might have a restriction. Open up the panel in the freezer and see if there is a partially frosted evaporator.

By your first post (compressor running and hot to the touch, no cooling), you have a restricrion somewhere in the system. If you had a leak or no refrigerant, the compressor would run cool.
