Dryer timer advances only if set in a certain spot. Clothes take forever to dry. Inside of dryer is very humid heat, not dry heat. We replaced the heating element about a year ago and cleaned out the vent. Is it the timer or something else? Thanks for the help!

This may seem disconnected: Long dry times are often associated with clogged or restricted ventilation. You say you cleaned out the vent. Is your washer thoroughly spinning the clothes to a damp dry?

Is your washer thoroughly spinning the clothes to a damp dry? Sometimes I do have to run the Maytag washer through another spin cycle to get more water out.

this may be the cause of your long drying sessions. What's the model number on your washer?
