You either have a short to ground in that circuit, or contacts within the switch are welded together. Part number: AP3029710

Dear Sir. Could You Please Explain What Maybe Could Have Caused This To Happen? To Maybe Melt The "switch" If I Understand This Correctly? And Thus Must Be The Switch In The Back Behind The Controls?? Just A Guess? Is This The Part Number For The Switch? Thanks For The Quick Info And Reply.

Every time you turn on one of those switches, 240VAC goes through those contacts. You don't see the sparks that are generated, but over time, the contacts either erode, get pitted, or get welded together. The part number in my first post is the number for a replacement switch.

Hello Again..did Get A Quote On Part.i Would Like To Ask Another Question Tho. If This "switch" Was Not To Get Replaced Right Away And The Light Was To Stay On For Some Time ?could This (ever) Or (could) Cause A Fire??? Being That The Wires Are Welded And Current Is Still Passing Through I Was A Little Concerned On Could This Be A "fire" Danger??? Please Advse Thanks

The voltage going through the pilot light is 120VAC. It probably won't start a fire; but you really should replace the switch as soon as you can. The critical thing is whether the rest of the switch still works.
