I ONLY USE MY LARGE BURNER MOST OF THE TIME AND JUST LATELY WHEN I WENT TO TURN OFF THE BURNER THE COOK TOP LIGHT WON'T GO OUT NOW?? I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL MODEL # RF111PXSQ2 ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT...THANKS:confused:

To Maybe Melt The "switch" If I Understand This Correctly? And Thus Must Be The Switch In The Back Behind The Controls?? Just A Guess? Is This The Part Number For The Switch? You don't see the sparks that are generated, but over time, the contacts either erode, get pitted, or get welded together. The part number in my first post is the number for a replacement switch.

If This "switch" Was Not To Get Replaced Right Away And The Light Was To Stay On For Some Time ?could This (ever) Or (could) Cause A Fire??? Being That The Wires Are Welded And Current Is Still Passing Through I Was A Little Concerned On Could This Be A "fire" Danger??? Please Advse Thanks

Rank: Advanced Member Groups: Senior Expert Joined: 8/16/2007(UTC) Posts: 3,273		The voltage going through the pilot light is 120VAC. It probably won't start a fire; but you really should replace the switch as soon as you can. The critical thing is whether the rest of the switch still works.
