This Refrigerator Has A Cam Hinge Or Some Call It A Cam Shaft At The Top Of Both The Left And Right Doors. It Looks Like It Is Held In Place Behind The Door Gasket Somehow. I Have The Part But I Am Uncertain How To Get To It Properly Without Damaging The Door. Any Suggestions?
Thanks,
Jimmy C.

Thanks for the reply. I already had the manual, it just doesn't show the cam at the top of the door or show how to replace it. I'm going to go through the motions of removing the door gasket in hopes that I cam replace the door cam.

Are you talking about the levers that catch in the strike on top of the cabinet in front? It comes as the whole gasket

Sorry about bringing up an old thread but I am in the same situation.

I am receiving conflicting reports from the parts guys who are the only ones with an exploded parts diagram.

My LG model Number is LFC22740ST

The top left cam is broken on the door,

The first LG parts CSR said that it is one assembly with the gasket:

Part Number 4987JJ2003H $129.93 CDN

The second guy said I can get just the CAM

Part Number 4430JJ2005B $8.99 USD

Does anyone with access to the parts scematic give me comfort on what is what, and if so anyone have experience as the OP has requested on how to replace just the cam.

The service manual for my particular fridge would be great as well if anyone has access to it.

Thanks guys.

Maybe these diagrams will help. Look at case parts and door parts. LG | Model #LFC22740ST | REFRIGERATOR | SearsPartsDirect.com

Thanks for the link.

I imagine the other parts guy was cross-referencing the cam to another model and the parts diagram you attached shows the entire assy. $$$

Is it much of an effort to take out the door gasket? I don't want to take it out and then get stuck sans fridge. Are the gaskets just held in with internal clips? Is there anything that I can break?

Thanks for your help.

Can someone tell me how these cams work. The bracket has a small spring but I do not see how the cams react to the spring on the bracket/gasket it is attached to. When I try to manually move the cam it causes the entire bracket to move and shows stress on the bracket. eventually it is going to break. Am I missing something here?
