Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe I need to replace the defrost in the freezer. I need to check the continuity of the defroster first, but I thought I would ask before I take the freezer apart. The tube that runs from the freezer to the drain pan keeps clogging up with ice and causes the water to drip into the fridge. I know their is nothing else clogging that tube, because i have blown it out with an air nozzle several times. Does it sound like I'm on the right track, or am I completely wrong? Any information that you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

you need to put a heater in the drain hole. The defrost cycle is working fine otherwise it wouldn't be dripping defrost water inside frig.Thaw it out again making sure it's totally cleared pour hot water down it and verify its going in defrost pan. You can use a wire coat hanger and wrap it around defrost heat and direct it about an inch down the defrost drain hole then the heat will transfer from the defrost heater to the wire keeping the hole cleared

Maybe a copper wire would be better as it wouldnt' rust? I tried this on one of my fridges but it didn't work. However I didn't put it an inch down into the drain line. I'll be over there today to fix it again so I'll re-do it with a longer copper wire and see how that does. I take it back when I say the wire didn't work. When I took the back panel off the freezer I could see that the first wire I'd put in there had shifted somehow so that it was no longer in the hole. Probably when I'd put the cover on last time. This time I put a heavy copper wire at least an inch into the hole.
I am curious as to why this would start happening on a fridge as it ages though. Is the heater coil getting less powerful?
