Our (natural) gas oven no longer heats on "BAKE" but the stove top burners and the broiler work fine. It sounds like from other postings and my attempt at reviewing the owner's manual that the problem may be an ignitor. If that appears to be the case from your review, can you assist me with how to diagnose the existing one (including where to find it on the stove)? Also, if this does need to be replaced, what is the approximate cost of this part for this stove? Will I need to also turn the gas cutoff valve OFF to replace this part? If so, can you tell me where that is on this particular Kenmore appliance? I had difficulty in finding it based on the owner's manual and tech sheets I received with the oven. I had to just assume it was ON since the broiler works OK.

I'll be glad to answer on your questions if you post the complete model number of the range.

Gene,

The complete Kenmore model number per the info plate attached to the stove is 362.7352891.

Thanks,

Hi Ray,

Sorry for late reply. Most likely the problem is a bad Bake igniter (#28 on the break down diagram).

1. Remove the bottom drawer and locate the two igniter wires. Disconnect them and check the igniter for continuity. You can learn how to do it from one of our previous posts: http://forum.appliancepartspros...continuity-ohmmeter.html If the circuit is open then the igniter has to be replaced.

2. The part number for the new igniter is AP3104565 and you can buy it for $59.95

3. No, you do not have to do it. Igniter is electric part and is not connected anyhow to gas lines.

Gene.
