changed starter switch but nothing happened. Door switch works because timer ticks when the door is closed but turns off when door is open. Where should I look next, besides the appliance store?

Take the back off the dryer, and of course unplug it. You will see in the middle, close to the bottom, and white in color part, with 2 wires coming to it. That is the thermal fuse. It will most likely be your problem. Part # 3392519. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
