I have a KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDS01DLSS2. It has a very load whining sound. I checked the grinder and it is clear. I assume the sound is coming from the pump as the motor sounds like it is working OK.

I would like to replace the pump (unless you have different advice). Looking at Appliancepartspros KUDS01DLSS2 "Pump and Motor Parts Assembly" diagram, it appears I have a few choices as how to go about this.

I am looking for a relatively easy replacement job. Should I order:

-- #22 Impeller, or
-- #10 motor assembly, or
-- #14 pump and motor assembly complete?

What would you recommend? Also, if I order more that one, are the unused ordered parts returnable to Appliancepartspros?

Thanks.

I would only do the #10 Chances are that the bearings are shot in the motor.

Drags1998. Thanks. Replaced the motor with impeller (#10) per your suggestion. Was very easy to do. Now I have a nice quiet dishwasher again (before it was screaming so loud we could not stay in the room while it was running).

I think I have to do the same thing, but could you tell me the difference between #10 and #20? From the pictures, it looks exactly the same.

Don73, #20 is just the motor. #10 is the motor with the impeller assembly, and starter capacitor.

For the $11 difference, I would recommend the full assembly #10. It is real easy to replace. You unplug the electrical connector, take out one bolt, then the motor assembly twists and pulls out. Replacement goes in just as easy. And it is all done from under the dishwasher -- you don't need to take the innards apart.

Claytonc, Thanks, but that leads to another question. The full assembly #10 is $113.23, while just the motor #20 is $124.31. So you pay less to get more? I'm ok with that, but does seem strange to me.

Don73, you're right something is wrong there. And if you look at the photos, both 20 and 10 show the same thing. But, according to the parts diagram, 10 should be the whole thing and 20 should be only the motor.

So I checked my order, I ordered #10 (the whole assembly) for $113 (total was $126+ including shipping). And the ordered part numbers match with #10. I would recommend going with #10.

I ordered #10 also. I asked the online help person about the diff in price between #10 and #20, and she said they give a price break on combinations. Still didn't make any sense to me, but I wasn't going to argue the issue. Thanks again for your help.
