Last week my dryer began to stop after only 5 minutes of drying time. My apartment complex's maintenance checked the wall for any clogs and found none. A freiend suggested that it might be the timer and to try holding the button down to see if it would then continue to run. With the button held down, the dryer would run, stop and then restart automatically. Now, the dryer won't start at all. After replacing the motor, the thermal fuse, and the high level thermostat the dryer still won't start. this doesn't make any sense. Where else should I be looking?

The start switch and the door switch are the two areas I would check out.

Hi, my husband posted this to try to fix the dryer before he left for training to go to Afghanistan but he was unable to fix it. The night before he left he was able to get it running but then in the morning when I went to put a load in it, it wouldn't start. The light inside the dryer doesn't even come on. Would the door or the start switch cause the dryer not to have any power at all?

I am trying to replace the high temp overload and the fuse Parts AP4242472 (LA-1053) on a kenmore electric dryer. I don't know how to get down to the fuse (or temp sensor) on the side of the header element. I see 4 screws on the back that might free the heater unit. I have not tried to remove the element yet.
Any suggestions?
Thanks! stu
