How does it function?

Benito,

The part number you supplied AP4037043 is a complete timer,(and the best way to go if you have a timer problem).

The Timer, is basically the main control,

It has internal contacts, that supplies power to all the components, motor, heater or gas valve, and timer motor and gets it's power from the line cord.

So the timer controls everything including the run time in your case(commercial machine).

The Timer Motor

Works like any other electric motor.

It has a predetermined RPM(revolutions per minute) based on the power supply voltage and cycle requirements.

As the motor drive gear turns the timer cam wheel inside the case, the cam wheel activates and deactivates switch contacts inside the timer based on the selection made, or programmed by the accumulator settings.

Did this help you ?

:) :) :)

Thanks Joe.
It help me understand, how it works

So basically the timer and the timer motor is like brain and energy.
The brain will operate smooth as long as it got proper energy.

So if the timer doesnt operate properly (either because of timer motor or something else) , it should affect the performance of other components such as tumbler motor and gas valve also?
What is the clear symptoms of such case, when the timer is the culprit of the tumbler motor and gas valve problems?

Regards,
Richard

Richard,

Yes, the timer assembly is the Brain of the system.

As long as there is the proper "energy" it should work properly, unless there is a defect on the inside, and you have to do "brain" surgery.

As long as you have checked the other associated parts(door switch, start switch, wiring, etc.)

I don't have access to a commercial unit diagram, but

If the motor won't run, the unit won't heat .

You need to check the door switch and wiring, to make sure we establish power or circuit back to the timer or motor.

You need to check the start switch for operation to make sure you get the power out to the motor.

Then check for power into the timer, and power out to the switches and motor.

Will that help you ???
